Two weeks ago, on a cool and cloudy Northwest fall day, 19-year-old islander Nate Weston was helping his father pick apples for the island's annual CiderFest celebration. The following week, he was in the Mediterannean sunshine with 17 of the world's best free runners and parkour practicers (called traceurs), running, jumping, flipping and spinning over the iconic white domes of Oia in Santorini, Greece.

The owners of the Dockton General Store building are asking members of the public to come forward with any information they may have about a hit and run over the weekend that damaged the building's awning support and mailbox.
The Quartermaster Yacht Club will give the first in a series of free workshops it has developed on topics of interest to members of Vashon's boating community next Wednesday, Oct. 26. Created both to reach out and give back to islanders who spend time on the water, the "Tech Talks" are appropriate for novice through expert boaters, and will cover everything from anchoring techniques to water rescues and lifesaving; digital navigation software to marine radio use and more.
Islanders are invited to a celebration this Sunday at the Mukai House as members of the Friends of Mukai organization will remove the last piece of fencing and open the property up to the public.
