Fire scorches grass

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, Vashon Island Fire & Rescue received an emergency call about a brush fire in the 17900 block of Vashon Highway S.W. In a grassy field, the fire had no known cause, said Mike Kirk, acting fire chief for the district. The fire burned a 25-foot square area of grass before it was extinguished, he said.
