Jazz great Michael Powers and Hawaiian ukulele legend Herb Ohta, Jr., are the headliners at Vashon’s first Ukulele Festival, on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14 and 15. The festival will kick off on Saturday with 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. screenings of “The Mighty Uke” at Ober Park. Sunday's events will take place at Camp Burton. Food, beverages, open mics, children’s activities and performances by Powers and Ohta are all part of the fun. For details, visit the Facebook page, Vashon Uke Fest, or e-mail russ@soundduke.com to register for workshops.
