August 24, 2010 · Updated 1:29 PM
Subscriptions are available now for Vashon Allied Arts’ 2010-2011 Chamber Music Series, a three-concert series that begins with a performance Oct. 8 and ends with a concert Feb. 25.
The series features Island cellists Rowena Hammill and Douglas Davis, who have invited a well-known group of musicians with diverse repertoires to join them in the Friday-evening series.
Odeonquartet will perform three centuries of Russian chamber music at the first concert, to be held at Vashon United Methodist Church. On Nov. 19, Island soprano Jennifer Krikawa will perform a selection of French songs — a performance at the Blue Heron Art Center.
The final concert, Feb. 25, also at the Blue Heron, will feature special guests Mark Robbins on the French horn and pianist John Covelli joining Hammill and Davis in a concert of music by Josef Haydn and Johannes Brahms.
Discount series tickets are available until Oct. 1, at $42 for VAA members and seniors, $54 general. Individual tickets are available after Oct. 1 at $18 for VAA members, seniors and teens, $22 general. For the first concert, students 18 and under can attend for $10.
