Island orchestra open to young players

Rehearsals for the Vashon Youth String Orchestra (VYSO) will begin this month. The group, under the direction of Gaye Detzer, is open to all string players in 4th- through 9th-grade who can read music.

There will be auditionslater for the wind, brass and percussion parts of one piece for full orchestra.

The first rehearsal will be 3:20 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 15, at McMurray Middle School. For more information, contact Gaye Detzer at
