Caspar Babypants, a band for kids that is fronted by Chris Ballew, will take the Blue Heron stage on Sunday.

Ballew is known to a generation of music lovers as one of the founders of The Presidents of the United States of America, a seminal Seattle rock band formed in the 1990s.

Now, with three Casper Babypants CDs to his credit, Ballew is well on his way to becoming one of the favorite rockers for a whole new age bracket of listeners.

“This music is in my soul,” he said in a recent interview. “I feel so good in the music that I can’t stop making it, and I see songs come alive in a way I haven’t for years.”

His new band has won critical raves.

“Caspar Babypants isn’t music for just kids — it’s fantastically hooky, cool, authentic pop,” Stone Gossard, of Pearl Jam, wrote in a testimonial posted on www.babypants.com.

Casper Babypants’ show, which is for all ages, starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at the Blue Heron. Tickets, $7 and $10, can be purchased at the Blue Heron, Books by the Way, Heron’s Nest and www.brownpapertickets.com.
