‘Nuncrackers’ is coming up

Drama Dock’s annual holiday production, “Nuncrackers,” is an irreverent musical romp through a convent and Catholic school, starring a cast of 14 Island thespians and directed by Drama Dock stalwarts Chris Ott and Elizabeth Ripley. The show, created by Dan Goggin, is part of a successful franchise of “Nunsense” shows, which have been produced more than 5,000 times worldwide and translated into 21 languages. The show will be presented at the Blue Heron at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17, 18, 23 and 26, and at 2 p.m. Dec. 19. There will also be a 2 p.m. performance on Dec. 26. Tickets, $10 and $15, are on sale at Island book stores, Heron’s Nest, Blue Heron and online at www.brownpapertickets.com.

Help John Browne’s family

Red Bicycle Bistro will host an open mic to raise funds for the family of John Browne, a well-known Islander who was seriously injured in an accident on Nov. 29. The event will take place at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18. Musicians will play songs and everyone will be welcome to share stories about Browne. According to organizer Pete Welch, it’s a chance to support a “man we have all come to dearly love.” For information, visit www.redbicyclebistro.com.

Celebrate the Solstice

“A Midwinter Night’s Dream,” a Solstice celebration and feast, will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Vashon’s Sportsmen’s Club, at 19720 Singer Rd.
