The pipes are calling at Red Bicycle Bistro

The Vashon SRS Irish Dancers, accompanied by Island bagpiper John Dally, will be on hand at the Red Bike to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, in a free, all ages show.

Most of the six girls in the dance troupe have been dancing together for seven years. Sara Fogard, who is affiliated with the Scoil Rince Slieveloughane Dance School, is their teacher. Her classes are held at the Grange Hall on Saturday mornings from 10:30 a.m. until noon. For more information about the classes, e-mail sarafogard@gmail.

Blue Heron show is a lively mix of fiddles and step dancing

The Gothard Sisters Trio will arrive on the Island to perform a show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Blue Heron.

Tickets for the all-ages show, $12 and $15, are on sale at the Heron’s Nest, Blue Heron, Books by the Way, www.brownpapertickets.com and by calling 463-5131.

The sister act, which tours widely throughout the United States, combines high-octane fiddle playing with lively step dancing.

The trio triumphed in 2007 when they danced as part of a team that came in second in the world championships of Irish Step Dancing in Scotland.
