Comedy competition comes to town

November 20, 2012 · Updated 5:22 PM

Up-and-coming comics will compete for a chance to win cash and other prizes of the 33rd annual Seattle International Comedy Competition, at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Nov. 21, at Vashon Theater.

This year’s competition started on Nov. 1, at Naked City Brewing & Tap House in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood, and will continue nightly until a grand prize winner is crowned on Nov. 25 at The Comedy Underground in Seattle. In all, the contest has featured 33 comedians from the North America, Europe, Australia and Africa.

The Thanksgiving-eve show at Vashon Theatre, featuring five finalists for the prize, has become a yearly tradition at the local movie house and usually draws a big crowd of comedy lovers. Tickets, $15 and $17, can be purchased at the theater box office or at www.brownpapertickets.com.
