The first Annual Vashon Island Music Festival will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27, at Agren Park.

Organizer Ruben Arnot has put together an ambitious slate of 14 acts that will appear over the course of the weekend, including such Vashon favorites as Subconscious Population, Trolls Cottage and Ian Moore.

Arnot says that he decided to launch the festival because he and other Islanders missed the musical offerings of Island Earthfair, which has not been presented for the past two years.

All profits from the festival will go to the Vashon Maury Community Food Bank, said Arnot.

Tickets to the festival cost $15 per day at the gate, or $10 if festival-goers bring a can of food or larger donation for the food bank.

Festival-goers are encouraged to bring a blanket, chairs and picnics.

No alcohol is allowed in the park.
