A rare hometown concert for O’Keefe at winery
July 29, 2008 · Updated 1:08 PM
Danny O’Keefe, an acclaimed songwriter and singer who lives on the Island, will play a rare hometown concert at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, at Vashon Winery.
Winery owner Ron Irvine said O’Keefe will sing old favorites as well as new songs from his 2008 CD, “In Time.” He described O’Keefe’s music as “soulful and penetrating, kind of rock, kind of folk, almost blues, with great lyrics.”
O’Keefe has written more than 200 songs in a career than spans four decades, and he continues to tour and write songs.
His songs have been recorded by many other musicians, including Elvis, Cab Calloway and Jackson Browne.
The concert will take place on the front lawn of the winery, which is located at 10317 S.W. 156th Street. Chairs will be provided.
Irvine said he will move the performance inside the winery if the weather is too rainy or cool.
A $20 donation is requested (this includes a glass of wine), and reservations are required. Call 567-0055 or e-mail vashonwinery@yahoo.com for information.
