Urban soul in Ober Park
July 29, 2008 · Updated 1:08 PM
Keyboardist Darrius Willrich will play urban soul at a free, all-ages Ober Park concert at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 7.
Willrich, a singer, songwriter and band leader, plays with several Seattle area groups including Soul Provider and his own Darrius Willrich Project.
Concert organizers say Willrich “expertly combines multiple musical genres ... and creates an absolutely genuine sound.”
Willrich taught himself to play by ear and went on to graduate from Cornish College of the Arts with a bachelor’s degree in jazz piano. He composed four feature film scores and often appears at Seattle’s Triple Door.
“Earshot Jazz” wrote, “One earful of his sweet vocals is enough to have audiences shouting for more.”
Bring a picnic and enjoy the concert. No alcohol is allowed in the park. The summer music series is made possible by Vashon Park District, Vashon Allied Arts and Windermere.
