In an intriguing move, Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi is spreading the word that a well-known “mystery guest” will will take its stage with the band “The Lassy Coils” at 9:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28.

Amateur detectives might be able to deduce the identity of the mystery guest from revealing comments made by Pete Welch, the concert’s promoter.

Said Welch, “This will be the second time our mystery guest has ever played on the island with his full band, the first being last April when he brought down the house and had people dancing in the street.”

Welch went on to reveal that the mystery musician is a guitarist and singer-songwriter, originally from Austin, Texas, who now lives on Vashon.

His music contains elements of folk, rock and roll, world music, and blues. He has been on multiple world tours and has toured with such musical icons as Joe Ely, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul Weller and ZZ Top.

Finally, if there is any question left about the identity of the performer, music fans can pop in at the Bike and ask at the bar, where tickets are also being sold.

Sarah Christine, a popular Island singer and songwriter, will be the opening act.

Welch says that Christine’s music is a “blend of folk, soul and reggae, interwoven with conscious lyrics and uplifting positivity.”

Tickets for the show are $8 in advance, and $10 at the door, and Welch recommends buying them in advance. The show is for ages 21 and up.
