August 26, 2008 · Updated 2:46 PM
Just Fiddlin’ ’Round will play a benefit concert for Vashon Island Growers Association (VIGA) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Café Luna. All proceeds will benefit the Vashon Farmers Market.
There is a $12 cover charge.Megan Hackett and Hannah Scheer, the precocious “front girls” for the bluegrass and country band, have played together since primary school.
In 2004, they found their voices. Adding singing to their repertoire, they opened a whole new dimension to their interpretation of traditional songs like “Old Joe Clark.” The girls have played many times at the Farmer’s Market and other Island venues.
Over the years, the girls have developed a mature sound. Their second CD, “Who’s Chicken,” highlights their tight harmonies and fancy riffs.
The girls regularly play as far south as Olympia and north as far as Everett.
The girls said they are excited to be playing a concert that benefits one of their first and best supporters.
