Gallery 070 features Curtis Bathurst
November 4, 2008 · 12:46 PM
Curtis Bathurst will step out from behind the desk of Gallery 070, where he has greeted visitors for the past couple of years, and have an art exhibition of his own on the gallery walls, opening from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7.
Bathurst plans to fill the gallery with dozens of small acrylic paintings, many of which reflect his creative wit. Every chance he gets he sets seriousness aside. Toys, cereal boxes and “anything flashy, aimed at grabbing children’s attention” easily distract him, he said.
His abstract paintings feature funny little monsters swimming in a colorful sea of circles, reminiscent of a bowl of Fruit Loops. Also included will be a series of paintings called “Fog Cakes.”
“I also have some pink paintings in the show,” he said. “I thought it would be funny to have pink paintings of crows,” he said.
