Music at Luna and Back Bay

Greg Dember, a former Islander, will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Café Luna. Dember recently released a new CD, “I Don’t Know I Think I Fell From the Sky.” Greg will perform with violinist Thorn Michaels.

Suzie Bradford, a singer/songwriter, will bring her band The Side Project to the café at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20. The Side Project is known for including mixed-media in its shows, including paintings, video and silent films.

Meanwhile, in Burton, Back Bay Inn’s Quartermaster Pub will host RiverBend at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, and La La Cajun Band from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20.

Open mic

Café Luna will host a holiday open mic at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18.

Organizers said the evening will be “a gathering of community, coming together to share what the holiday creates.” Share a favorite holiday story, skit, song or poem, and bring a donation for the Vashon Maury Community Food Bank. For information, call 353-9227.

Call for art

Vashon Community Care Center will have an art show about pets and animals. The mixed-media show will have an opening reception Feb. 6. To participate, call Geri Peterson at 463-2767.
