Oscar night comes to Vashon

The annual Oscars bash at the Vashon Theatre drew quite a crowd on Sunday, with many people winning much-coveted awards.

2009 Winners

Best Dressed Girl: Stevie Loring won a private birthday party for her and her friends at the Vashon Theatre.

Best Dressed Boy: Elijah Nickleson won a private Game Boy party for him and his friends at the Vashon Theatre.

Oscar Trivia Quiz: Sally Leonhardt and Mona Hardy tied and will share prizes, including gift certificates to the Vashon Tea Shop, Movie Magic and Vashon Theatre.

Celebrity Look-Alike: Three-time Oscar winner (with different judges every time) Lynn Carrigan, as Sister Aloysius Beauvier from “Doubt.” Previous wins for this very versatile contestant included “The Queen” and “Johnny Cash.” She won $100 worth of merchandise from Kronos.

Best Dressed PJs: Freya Helton and Ellie Leonhardt. These two friends get to take turns sleeping on this “Laugh in Your Dreams” pillow from the Little House and will share a Movie Magic gift certificate.

Best Dressed Adult Male: John Erickson gets to take the woman of his dreams to dinner at the Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi and then to a movie at the Vashon Theatre.

Best Dressed Adult Female: Mona Hardy gets to splurge on a spring bouquet from Blooms & Things and take in a film at the Vashon Theatre.

Outrageous “Cher” Award: A basket of fun worth more than $60 from Duet goes to blue-haired Craig Trego.

Best Dressed Teen Male: Two-time Oscar winner (again, different judges each year) Lucien Brilliant will get some fun in at Vashon Books by the Way, Movie Magic and the Vashon Theatre.

Best Dressed Teen Female: Mia Krah gets a $50 gift certificate to the Vashon Pharmacy and passes to Movie Magic and the Vashon Theatre.

Best Dressed Couple: Bonnie McCallister and Dean Haugen get a romantic dinner at La Boucherie and then take in a movie at the Vashon Theatre.

Best Ballot: Marita Ericksen correctly predicted 20 Academy Award winners and was rewarded with a $100 shopping spree from Minglement / The Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie.

Not to be outdown by the glitz and glamour down the road, Movie Magic held its own Oscar night contest, awarding prizes to those who guessed the most winners from 24 Oscar categories. Kelsey Kozak took first place with 20 correct answers, earning her a $100 gift certificate to the store, and Lisa Caldwell guessed 19 answers correctly, winning a $50 gift certificate to the store.
