Hans York, a 2008 winner at the Kerrville Folk Festival, will return to Vashon for a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at the Land Trust Building.
Islander Jessa Zimmerman, who is organizing the concert, described York as a “consummate singer, songwriter, guitarist and entertainer.”
German born and classically trained, York has studied in Brazil, incorporated jazz and pop overtones and created his own unique sound that makes use of his three-octave vocal range.
“He creates music with brilliant emotional moments,” said Zimmerman. “This is a man who is doing exactly what he was meant to do. His joy is infectious, and the audience is lucky to catch it.”
Advance tickets are available at the Vashon Bookshop for $12. Tickets at the door are $15.
