The Community Gospel Choir, including Vashon Island Youth Chorus and guest Paul Cowell, directed by Marita Ericksen, will perform with the world-famous Total Experience Gospel Choir (pictured) in a benefit for Seattle’s Bailey-Boushay House, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at Bethel Church. A donation of $10 will be encouraged at the door, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. The Total Experience Gospel Choir’s performance on Vashon is sponsored by Shade for Children, a local charity founded by Islander Larry Flynn. Flynn, a longtime Islander and AIDS survivor, is hosting the concert to raise awareness of AIDS prevention and encourage young people toward a path of courtship, marriage and monogamy.
