Island stages fill up with a wealth of talent

This weekend will bring a variety of musical genres to various Vashon locales. Rane Stone and friends will play a free set of original music and acoustic covers of songs by Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and others. The free show starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the Red Bike. At 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, Jackstraw, a Portland group that has shared stages with bluegrass greats Del McCoury, Tim O’Brien and Danny Barnes, will play a free show at the Bike. At 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, House Engine will play a free, all-ages show at 7:30 p.m. at the Bike. At Café Luna, Spokane’s Jonathan Nicholson will perform for free from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. A well-known Island duo, RedPerl, made up of Daryl Redeker and Sarah Perlman, will take the Blue Heron stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Tickets, $14 to $16, can be purchased at the Blue Heron, Books by the Way, Heron’s Nest or online at brownpapertickets.com.
