Radio theater festival returns to Ober Park
December 8, 2009 · 11:53 AM
Vashon Park District and Voice of Vashon will present its annual Radio Theatre 10-Minute Play Festival this weekend, with performances slated for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11 and 12, in the Ober Park performance room. Admission is by donation.
Seasoned theater director Charlotte Tiencken will lead an ensemble troupe of almost 20 actors, directors and sound effects people through an evening of comedy, drama, farce and pathos in a festival of eight 10-minute plays. According to organizers, audience participation is a critical part of the fun.
Stories range from a tale of “the most heinous man to ever wear a pirate’s hat” in the play “Pirate Radio,” starring Paul Shapiro, to the copy room farce, “Poor Shem,” starring Jeff and Cindy Hoyt, to the story of an encounter between a widower, his dead wife and a young woman in “Canyon’s Edge,” starring Luke McQuillin, Deena Eber and Mik Kuhlman. The performances will be recorded for broadcast on webstream radio at voiceofvashon.org and VoV-TV.
