In the recent snowstorm/freeze, some people did not fare well.

For want of a generator, Kathy’s Corner lost all its plant starts for the coming spring. This business has eked along for years, and this last setback may be its death knell. Kathy put her whole inventory on sale for a few weeks just to bring in some much needed seed money for spring planting, but she still does not have enough to get a start for the coming year.

This small business has been a wonderful addition to the Vashon culture. In addition to the retail nursery, Kathy’s Corner offers landscaping and yard cleanup at fair prices. It would be sad, indeed, if this last upset ended the many years Kathy has been a resource for Vashon gardeners. While you are thinking of gift giving this season, please remember this fine garden center and help out if you can. Kathy’s Corner’s business account is located at Bank of America; or just drop by, wish her well, and perhaps, hand her a few bills.
