VAA structure will be beautiful | Letter to the Editor

June 26, 2012 · Updated 3:32 PM

Let’s not build another Kingdome. We have been given a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build for the future. The new Vashon Allied Arts center will serve us well for the next 50 years. As I approach my 65th birthday, I look forward to more cultural offerings on the Island.

The best architects have given us a beautiful, contemporary building with strong references to our rural heritage. The county building codes dictated the placement close to the road, but I think it will fit in well, with the use of natural materials. Let’s not go halfway and regret it in a few years.

Join me in supporting all the generous and passionate Islanders who are working so hard to realize this dream.
