Letter to the Editor: Schools foundation should be created soon, not later

I like your editorial entitled “As Seniors Graduate” and the commitment to starting a foundation. The idea of creating a more equitable tax base is appropriate, though the next phrase “years away” strikes me, and I add this humbly, as a bit fatalistic.

I’ve grown weary of the ongoing use of the phrase “cutting the fat” when it comes to discussions about education, particularly on Vashon. When will someone on the Island call that what it is?

Gee, I guess I just sort of did. Let me gently, yet firmly, be more specific: A large sum would accrue to the emerging foundation’s budget if those words were raked up (every time they’ve been used), bagged and marketed for garden use...

Is that specific enough?
