The Beachcomber’s June 9 issue included an article about Sen. Patty Murray honoring Sue Nebeker and two other activist citizens at her annual Golden Tennis Shoe award luncheon. It is wonderful that such outstanding people receive recognition, but I was surprised to read that the event is a fundraiser for Murray’s campaign. Shouldn’t the funds go to the causes championed?
