Letter to the Editor: It’s time for us to do an about-face

For reasons as plain as can be, we should get rid of the car commute and stop using the transfer station. For reasons plain, we should do an about-face in order to see a Vashon that respects nature. Plainly the U.S. government has opted for a state of constant war and cooperation with the corporate state. And just as plain we are letting it happen in order to jolly ourselves with goods only the corporate state can provide. We have the talent and the power to make of our Island what we will, but do we have the will?

Let me suggest a name for the venture and express hope that the heirs of Betty McDonald will permit: The Egg and Island. Let me hope for an understanding that the about-face would be the first move we should make and the best move we could make in order to help those suffering from the actions of a rogue government we cannot control.
