Allison Shirk at Red Bike

Allison Shirk plays at Red Bike

Local singer-songwriter Allison Shirk will perform original songs and cover tunes at 8:30 p.m. Friday for her own birthday bash.

Friday is Shirk’s actual birthday, and she said she’s looking forward to celebrating the day doing what she loves most — “making music and being with friends and loved ones.”

Shirk’s music blends her Texas country roots with her love for vocal jazz and blues. She will be accompanied by Wesley Peterson on drums, Doug Pine on lead guitar, Chuck Keller on bass and Tony Mann on keys.

The band Tim Couldn’t Make It will kick off the evening with Pine and Rick Dahms playing without Tim Dahms, who has performed with Steely Dan, Willie Nelson and others. The group includes Peterson, Michael Marcus on bass, and on occasion, Mike Nichols on harmonica.

Admission is free; tips to pay the band are welcome.
