Cabaret and dinner benefit UMO

For one night only, UMO’s annual benefit cabaret will return to The Hardware Store Restaurant at 6 p.m. Sunday, featuring a dinner, raffle, live auction, desserts and a special evening with UMO.

The show, “Light the Night with Stars,” will take a look back at UMO’s celebrated history as told by UMO Ensemble members. For the past 24 years, the UMO Ensemble has created over 20 innovative and critically acclaimed original pieces of physical theater.

The show will also take a look forward as three star students of the UMO School of Physical Arts: Josie Slade, Madeleine Schroeder and Solrun Heuschert will perform an aerial act.

The school celebrates 10 years of providing instruction in circus and aerial arts, parkour and more to Vashon youth.

And if that weren’t enough for one evening, samba dancer Molly Shannon will perform throughout the restaurant.

The Love Markets band will provide the cabaret music — a modern mash up of brass, rhythm and funky bass. Led by songwriter Angie Louise and inspired by the artists of 1920’s Berlin, The Love Markets “inject high-stakes edge and cabaret decadence” into the mix.

Seating is limited. Tickets are sold at brownpapertickets.com and Vashon Bookshop.

All proceeds benefit UMO Ensemble, a non-profit organization.
