Chorale performance and sing-along

The Vashon Island Chorale will perform its Carols & Cantatas concerts on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday in The Kay White Theater at Vashon Center for the Arts.

Artistic Director Dr. Gary D. Cannon will present pre-concert lectures 45 minutes prior to the start of both performances.

Over 95 singers, including a youth chorus and 30 orchestra members, will entertain concert-goers with traditional carols and two cantatas.

Marita Ericksen directs the youth chorus and will sing the soprano solo in William Averitt’s contemporary cantata “Away to the Skies.” Andrew Krikawa of Vashon Opera fame will sing the baritone solo in Arthur Honegger’s “Christmas Cantata.”

Audience participation will be part of the concert program with a sing-along for several favorite carols.

Tickets are available by calling the front desk at Vashon Center for the Arts or online at vashoncenterforthearts.org.
