Fall into a world of art on First Friday gallery cruise

Café Luna will present work by illustrator Bernadette LaCarte in a show called “Femmes.”

Barnworks artists will show selected works at The Hardware Store Restaurant.

In observance of Native American Heritage month, Tlingit master carver Odin Lonning will discuss the origins and traditional uses of diverse art forms in Northwest Coast tribes at 1 p.m. Friday at the Senior Center. “From Alaska to the Salish Sea: Art Styles of Coastal First Nations,” will run through November at the center. The artist will be at the opening at 6:30 p.m.

Two Wall Gallery will host two photographers, Adrian Leonard and Ray Pfortner, in “Two at Two,” exhibiting photographs of Vashon and Maury Island. Leonard is a teen student of Pfortner, who teaches photography classes and camps throughout the year.

Hinge Gallery will exhibit drawings and etchings by Brent Houston, who will show new work created using the medium of copper plate etching after the artist joined Quartermaster Press.

In November and December, VALISE Gallery will present its annual member show, “Five by Five.” Each member received 20 5” x 5” wood panels for their artwork.

Raven’s Nest Gallery will present “Northwest Coast Native Art: Smaller Works,” a collection of traditional and contemporary smaller art prints and cards.

Blue Heron Education Center — the original building for Vashon Allied Arts — will host its inaugural show as the new education center. The all photography exhibit will include work by teen photographers plus the instructor and teen assistant photographers.

Island Paper Chase is moving half a block south from its current location to a spot between VALISE Gallery and the Glass Bottle Creamery. Jim Marsh, executive director of the Vashon Chamber of Commerce, will conduct an official ribbon cutting ceremony for the new, larger gallery space.

Vashon Intuitive Arts will present a mixed media show called, “Granny’s Attic Eclectic Art.”

The Hastings-Cone Gallery will show hand-drawn pen and ink illustrations by Los Angeles-based artist Gary Smith.

The VCA Koch Gallery will present “Revering Nature,” a show about the natural world seen through the eyes of 10 Puget Sound area artists and curated by Bainbridge Island Museum of Art Executive Director Greg Robinson.
