Serenade your sweetheart or listen to songs about love during Vashon Events’ annual show celebrating Valentine’s Day, “Love Duets VI,” at 8 p.m. Friday at the Red Bike

The evening will follow shows from the past: two people on stage sing a duet that expresses a theme of love. The focus will be on the two voices, so instrumentation will be minimal. About 40 island musicians will pair up for the evening — “a father or mother with a son or daughter, a couple in love, best friends or simply with someone a musician has always wanted to sing with, the possibilities are endless.” With multiple duos, the show will include a wide range of music, from covers to originals. Musicians can bring instruments, but the organizers ask that instrumentation be minimal to make transitions smooth. “No big bands, drum kits, just two people singing about love.”

The evening is a benefit for Vashon Events, with a $10 suggested donation at the door.
