Poetry Well for June

The Poetry Well is a monthly column that showcases island poetry. This month includes a poem by Jessika Satori.

Ode to Ogden Nash

After working together for several weeks

it was getting clearious

we was getting serious.

Air kisses in the elevator

winking across the cubicles

we knew we was suitables.

Yes, we was drawn in Cupid’s Bow

When the weddings were small and

the house payments low.

Happy trails accompanied by the Goddess Athena

Until one day, I opened the letter and saw the subpoena.

Athena briskly turned her head from Wisdom to War

And the life I knew was gonna be no more.

I’d have to adjust to the new life before us.

Merely keeping just the change from the divorcecourtasaurus.
