Rapper plays rare, full-band acoustic show

Grammy-nominated singer and rapper Matisyahu returns to Washington on his Forest of Faith tour for a rare acoustic performance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kay White Hall.

Known for his spectacular vocal skills, Matisyahu will be joined by his collaborators, guitarist Aaron Dugan, bassist Stu Brooks, percussionist Joe Tomino and keyboardist Big Yuki for the only stop on the tour to feature all the musicians in an acoustic setting.

“It’s difficult to pigeonhole Matisyahu,” Vashon Center for the Arts Creative Director and island musician Joseph Panzetta, said. “He and his band are so skilled, so musical, so multi-dimensional. There’s a reggae root there, but the music is so much more. This is a show that people are really going to love, even if they’ve never heard Matisyahu before.”

Tickets are sold at vashoncenterforthearts.org/event-cal/matisyahu/ or at VCA.
