September gallery cruise: Fall all into a world of art

Most galleries and art spots are open from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday

Café Luna will exhibit photography by island farmer Tom Conway.

Hastings-Cone Gallery will hold a group show of vintage embroidery pieces and a champagne reception.

September is the last month to view “Ellisport: The Hidden History” at the Heritage Museum. Island band Some’tet will kick off the final month by playing music during the museum’s reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Hive will show collages by Tara Snowden.

Raven’s Nest Gallery will feature limited edition prints and cards by Tsimshian Raven, Haida and Aleut Alaskan Native artist Allie High.

Sarah’s Salon will show work by island painter Ann Peterson-Kemp. The artist creates watercolor portraits of people and animals.

Spoke Gallery will feature the work of Bruce Dearborn in the show “Furniture as Art.”

An exhibit of work by Malei Young, a Northwest native, will be shown at The Hardware Store Restaurant. A painter, printmaker and fabric designer, Young received her degree in printmaking at Whitman College and her master of fine arts from Pratt Institute in New York City. She also studied at the Royal College of Art in London.

Last year, island artist Jeffrey Zheutlin began an ambitious project to paint 100 paintings in 100 days at KVI beach. He launched his next series of 100 paintings, “KVI Series #II,” soon after completing the first set. The new work will be shown at Vashon Intuitive Arts.

VALISE Gallery will show the work of three island artists who work in the mediums of wax, oil and glass: George Wright, Hita von Mende and Barbara Wells.
