Shaping the earth: Arts & Humanities talk by Kathryn Gustafson

With more than 30 years of distinguished practice in landscape architecture, islander Kathryn Gustafson’s ground-breaking, contemporary work incorporates sculptural, sensual qualities fundamental to the human experience of landscape. She will give a lecture called “Shaping the Earth” at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Kay White Hall.

Her celebrated designs include the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. and the Diana, Princess of Wales, Memorial Fountain in London. Her business partnerships include landscape architecture firms GGN in Seattle and Gustafson Porter in London. She is an honorary fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, honorary member of the Royal Designers for Industry and medalist of The Académie Royale d’Architecture.
