Van Redekers play dance party music

In preparation for the show, the band has arranged a dozen new groove-infused cover tunes.

For the first time in over a year, the Van Redeker band will play its popular dance music at the Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi, at 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 17. Van Redeker guitarist Sam Van Fleet calls the Red Bike the place the band likes playing most because it attracts crowds of their fans and gives them plenty of room to dance. The show is offered for free — the band also likes to gift their music to the community and does it as often as possible, said Van Fleet.

In preparation for the show, the band has arranged a dozen new groove-infused cover tunes — all for their danceability. And, they’ll include six new originals never before played in public. Van Fleet is adding his compositions to the originals created by lead guitarist and veteran songwriter, Daryl Redeker.

Known for their energetic performance style, the band is a regular for island dance events and always makes dancers part of the show. They cover classics by The Beatles, Michelle Shocked, Creedence Clearwater Revival and ZZ Top along with originals by songwriting team Redeker and Sam Van Fleet. The Van Redeker band is Redeker on lead guitar and vocals; Sara Van Fleet on bass, guitar and vocals; Sam Van Fleet on guitar, harmonica and vocals and Dodd Johnson on drums and percussion.
