A Vashon couple gives it all for ferrets

Two years ago, Michael and Miriam FitzPatrick decided they shouldn’t take in any more ferrets for a while. The couple, who run a small nonprofit ferret shelter, were in debt from veterinary bills and needed to hold off until they were out of the red.

Pirate football team wins again

The VHS football team took its second win of the season on Saturday in an away game against Seattle Lutheran. The Pirates beat the Saints, 34-6, at West Seattle Stadium.
Rowers head north for two regattas

Last weekend Vashon Island Rowing Club traveled to Victoria, B.C., where master and junior rowers had a strong showing at two regattas held annually and hosted by the University of Victoria. Vashon placed in 12 races overall, with three first-place wins. The events draw some Northwest teams and numerous Canadian teams.
Vashon volleyball wraps up the season

Going into the final week of league play, Vashon volleyball players knew they had their work cut out for them. They needed at least one more win to make it into the Nisqually League playoffs, but faced two tough teams — Seattle Christian on Monday, Oct. 22, and top-ranked Life Christian on the following Wednesday at home.
Runners finish the season at district meet
