Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union (PSCCU) recently announced it has signed a lease to take over the former space of Books by the Way, which moved a few doors down at the end of September.

“It’s a good space for us, in the heart of where everything happens,” said Shannon Ellis-Brock, a vice president of the credit union.

PSCCU is hoping to have a new full-service Vashon branch open by spring, after some remodeling.

Rex Stratton, one of the volunteers who has worked for several months to bring a credit union to Vashon, also believes the location fits well with that group’s mission.

“Our goal was to create a financial third place,” he said. “We now have a whole building that is a third place. We think the synergism is going to be wonderful.”
