John Staczek, a member of the Vashon-Maury Island Community Council board who was appointed to the seat five months ago to fill a resignation, has himself resigned.

Tim Johnson, president of the VMICC’s nine-member board, announced Staczek’s resignation at Monday night’s general membership meeting. Staczek was not present and could not be reached for comment.

Johnson said the board will move quickly to try to find a replacement but doesn’t have a deadline.

“We’ll field as many candidates as we can,” he said.
