Halloween is always a delight on Vashon, when the town closes off to traffic, merchants hand out treats and Islanders display their skill with make-up and the treasures hidden deep in their closets. Monday’s affair — as a golden afternoon gave way to a crisp evening — was as sweet as ever. Monsters, of course, turned out. But so did a pair of lambs. There were several witches, a phoenix who’d lost her wings, a genie, a couple of Harry Potters, a flying monkey, a family of ducks and one stellar-looking headless bride.And for those fans of “Little House on the Prairie,” little Laura herself, in a horse-drawn wagon, made an appearance. So did Thing One and Thing Two of Dr. Seuss fame.Enjoy this slide show, a mere sampling of the afternoon's delights.
