A young man was arrested last week for a drug violation after he was found to possess numerous bottles of painkillers not prescribed to him.

The man, a 19- or 20-year-old Vashon resident, was pulled over Aug. 6 on the 9800 block of Cemetery Road for a traffic infraction when a sheriff's deputy found the bottles, according to Sgt. Katie Larson, a spokeswoman for the King County Sheriff's Department.

Larson said the vehicle contained numerous bottles of pills such as oxycodone hydrochloride, morphine and clonazepham, a drug sometimes prescribed for anxiety and panic disorders.

The man was booked into King County Jail and released the next day. He is awaiting formal charges.
