The King County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the death of India Castle, whose body was found in a shallow pond behind a home near the Vashon Airport two weeks ago.
Sgt. Cindi West, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said the agency’s major crimes detective went to the house the day her body was discovered “and did a full investigation.”
But until the county’s medical examiner completes a toxicology report and determines the cause of death, West said, the agency won’t know if it’s facing a potential criminal investigation. Toxicology reports often take weeks to complete.
“There were no obvious signs of trauma to her body,” West said. “Now we just have to wait for the toxicology report to determine the cause of death.”
Meanwhile, Islanders are rallying around the family. Vashon Allied Arts has set up a fund to benefit Castle’s family. Donations can be made at any US Bank to the India Castle Family Benefit Fund or dropped off at the VAA offices at the Blue Heron. For information about providing meals for the family, call Tim Johnson at 552-4883.
