County, conservation groups to discuss status of 13 projects

January 8, 2013 · 10:56 AM

Calling it a “habitat stewardship whirlwind,” King County’s Vashon basin steward is organizing an evening event where islanders can learn the status of a number of conservation efforts currently under way on Vashon.

Greg Rabourn, a Vashon resident and county employee, said the evening will include presentations on the restoration project at Dockton Park, work that recently took place at the Maury Regional Marine Park, the nitrogen study of Quartermaster Harbor and 10 other ongoing projects.

“People on Vashon are very invested in their community and often have questions about a lot of different projects,” Rabourn said. “This seemed like a way to cover a lot of ground.”

The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McMurray. Among the speakers will be islanders Donna Klemka, Tom Dean and Bianca Perla.
