The Vashon Island School District board will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at McMurray Middle School, to approve the final bond proposal that will be put before voters in February or March.

A bond measure of $79.45 million has been tentatively agreed upon.

Should the measure pass, it would fund an extensive makeover of the aging Vashon High School campus.

The measure would enable the district to construct a 40,000-square-foot classroom building and a new, secondary gym, install a synthetic-turf field, create a new track and renovate the grandstand to make it accessible to people with physical disabilities. The measure also includes improvements to the high school’s theater, renovations to several existing buildings and an improved, district-wide data and telecom-system.
