At noon Sunday, Jan. 4, Preserve Our Islands and the Backbone Campaign will host a community flotilla and rally on water and land at Glacier Northwest's site on Maury Island.

Islanders on foot are invited to gather at the Gold Beach community center at noon. Those with power boats will rendezvous at the Dockton Marine Park dock at 10 a.m., while small crafts will launch at 12:30 p.m. from Sandy Shores.

Organizers asked residents to "make a New Year's resolution to stop Glacier from building a barge-loading pier" by attending the event.
