A 62-year-old Vashon man was found dead near a trail in the Maury Island Regional Marine Park Wednesday afternoon.
The man was a victim of "an apparent suicide," said Sgt. John Urquhart, a spokesman for the King County Sheriff's Office.
The medical examiner's office will make the final determination on the cause and manner of the man's death within two or three days, he said. The medical examiner will also likely release his name at that time.
"At this point, there's not an active investigation. The investigation on the scene led officers to believe it was a suicide," Urquhart said.
The body was found by a King County Department of Transportation employee who was taking a walk during his lunch hour. The body had not been there long, Urquhart said.
