The much-anticipated 2010 Vashon DreamBoats Calendar will be unveiled at a launch party from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Café Luna.

The fundraising calendar was made possible by 12 male Vashon ferry commuters, who grace the pages of the calendar in the buff and who will attend Thursday’s event fully clothed. The project is a fundraiser to benefit the Vashon Island School District. One hundred percent of sales will be donated to the schools. Project organizers hope to raise $20,000.

In addition to calendars, prints of each model will be on display and for sale.

The DreamBoats Cal-endar has enjoyed much media attention, in Island newspapers, on local radio and television stations and even on a national primetime television show. Organizers have doubled their initial print order from 500 to 1,000 calendars to accommodate the anticipated high demand and listed the calendars for sale at Amazon.com.

From garlic farming to banjo picking to windsurfing, the months of the DreamBoats 2010 Calendar portray the models’ diverse interests and talents.

Organizers emphasize that Vashon Island School District has nothing to do with the creation or promotion of the DreamBoats calendars.
