Wet Whiskers suffers break-in and burglary
November 24, 2009 · 4:49 PM
Wet Whiskers, a pet grooming business located inside Pandora's Box, was burglarized last week.
Someone broke into the Wet Whiskers grooming room from inside Pandora's Box during business hours on Wednesday or Thursday, and stole a lockbox with $200 cash and $240 in checks, said Tom Smith, the owner of Wet Whiskers.
"They forced the door open, put it underneath their coat and walked out the door," he said.
Smith has been busy informing customers who wrote checks that their checks had been stolen, and to watch out for identity theft.
"The customers have been really wonderful," Smith said. Some have rewritten checks that were in the cashbox when it was stolen.
The loss of two days' worth of receipts and income is a blow to Wet Whiskers, he added.
"I'm starting my big holiday push now, and just before that happens I'm burgled," Smith said. It's really frustrating and annoying. It's the holidays, and then that happens."
