January 19, 2010 · Updated 3:55 PM
The Washington State Combined Excise Tax Return is due Feb. 1 for small businesses.
Hilary Emmer is putting on a free seminar for businesses with gross incomes of $30,000 or less. Attendees should bring a calculator, their numbers and state tax form. She will offer two seminars: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today, Jan. 20, at Courthouse Square.
Additionally, Emmer will offer a free tax service for people who make $25,000 or less from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays, from Jan. 28 to April 2.
She will also assist small tax-exempt organizations whose annual gross receipts are normally $25,000 or less. They can file Form 990-N, also known as the e-Postcard. Emmer will electronically file these forms from the library.
Property tax exemption forms will also be available through Emmer. To qualify people need to be at least 62, and their income must be under $35,000.
Basic Health, the subsidized state insurance plan, is still open to new applicants. Emmer will assist with those applications, too.
