Buses will transport islanders to Saturday’s march

As they did last year for the Women’s March on Seattle, island school buses will carry islanders to this year’s march, set for Saturday.

The Seattle Women’s March 2.0 is slated to begin at 10 a.m. at Cal Anderson Park with a rally. The march through downtown will begin at 11:30 a.m. and end at the Seattle Center.

Islander Susie Kalhorn is spearheading the transportation effort from Vashon this year. As of Monday evening, she had filled the four buses slated to go and planned to check Tuesday, after press time, if more buses could be pressed into service. The cost, still being finalized on Monday, will be no more than $15, payable in cash on the bus. Sign up is at goo.gl/ZLUViL.

Kalhorn said that she participated in the 2017 march and that experience led her to step up to organize buses this year.

“I felt quite exhilarated by the march last year, and I don’t want that level of consciousness to fade away,” she said.
